Hard and dense, with very little grain pattern. Very stable timber much prized before the advent of plastics.
Description and uses:
Extremely fine grained timber with a butter yellow colour. Previously large volumes of this timber were exported due to it's fine grain and dimensional stability. It was used for high quality rules and for engraving. The preferred wood for model boat builders, and anyone needing very fine grain. Available in relatively small sizes
